ALIGARH, Feb. 12 -- day international conference titled "Sir Syed Ahmad Khan and His Companions", aiming to revisit Sir Syed's multifaceted legacy in broader intellectual and transregional contexts.

Welcoming the gathering, Prof Hasan Imam, Chairman and Coordinator, CAS, Department of History, underlined the contemporary relevance of Sir Syed's ideas, particularly in the spheres of education, reform and intellectual responsibility. Prof M Waseem Raja, Co-Convener of the seminar, reflected on the complexities of interpreting Sir Syed's legacy, situating his reformist vision within wider Islamic and global intellectual currents, including engagements with Central Asian traditions and figures such as Jamaluddin Afghani.
