ALIGARH, July 12 -- charge, Nephrology Section, Department of Medicine, Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College, Aligarh Muslim University, presented a clinical study on antimicrobial resistance in complicated urinary tract infections (UTIs) at the 14th Best of Brussels Conference held at JW Marriott, Pune.

In his presentation, Prof. Aslam highlighted the growing burden of recurrent and complicated UTIs in India and other developing countries, noting that delayed treatment with appropriate antibiotics can lead to significant mortality. Referring to Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) data, he pointed out that resistance to carbapenem antibiotics among common UTI pathogens has reached 25-40 percent.
