India, April 21 -- A shocking case of murder has emerged from Bengaluru, where a 27-year-old woman allegedly killed her boyfriend by luring him into a fake "proposal" setup, tying him to a chair, and setting him on fire.

Police said the accused, Prerna, and the victim, Kiran, were colleagues at a telecom store and had been in a relationship for over a year.

Recently, tensions had developed, with Prerna upset that Kiran was "ignoring" her and unwilling to marry.

Lured Home Under Pretext

On Tuesday, Prerna invited Kiran to her house in south Bengaluru's Anjanapura when she was alone.

After a brief conversation, she blindfolded him and asked him to sit on a chair, claiming she had planned a unique, "foreign-style" proposal.
