India, April 13 -- Maj. Gen. Roman Gofman, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's military secretary, has been appointed as the next chief of Mossad intelligence agency, the country's Prime Minister's Office confirmed.

"The advisory committee on senior appointments chaired by retired Supreme Court President Asher Grunis has, this evening , approved Maj.-Gen. Roman Gofman as Director of the Mossad," the Prime Minister's Office said in a statement.

Upon receiving the committee's approval, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu signed the document appointing Maj.-Gen. Gofman as the next Director of the Mossad, effective 2 July 2026, for five years.
