India, Aug. 24 -- An Indian-origin student at the University of California, Santa Cruz, in the US, died after the car she was travelling in plunged off a cliff into the Pacific Ocean along Santa Cruz's iconic West Cliff Drive.

The student, Alli Renee Singh, was 19 years old and was preparing to begin her third year at the university. The incident occurred just days before the start of the new academic session.

Emergency responders were called to the scene at around 12:50 a.m. on August 13 following reports that a car had driven off West Cliff Drive near Steamer Lane.

According to reports, one person managed to escape from the vehicle, while another remained trapped inside.
