India, Sept. 11 -- Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday presented Russian President Vladimir Putin with a Russian-translated version of the ancient Tamil classic Thirukkural during their bilateral meeting in Delhi ahead of the BRICS Summit.

Presenting the iconic Tamil classic to Putin, Modi shared the video of the moment on X and wrote: "Presented President Putin with a Russian translation of the Thirukkural, which carries the eternal wisdom of the great Thiruvalluvar across languages and borders."

As per Encyclopedia Britannica, Tirukkural, the most celebrated of the "Eighteen Ethical Works" in Tamil literature and a work that has had an immense influence on Tamil culture and life.
