India, Aug. 17 -- Indian security agencies have carried out a major multi-state crackdown against the ISI-backed Shahzad Bhatti Network (SBN) ahead of Independence Day, dismantling what authorities described as a terror syndicate involved in planning and executing attacks across the country.

The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) said 253 people were detained across 14 states during coordinated operations.

More than 80 FIRs have been registered and over 200 arrests have been made against alleged SBN operatives as part of the government's "zero tolerance" policy towards cross-border terrorism.
