West Bengal steps up fight against child marriage as UN recognises November 27 global day
India, Sept. 5 -- India's fight against child marriage has received a major global endorsement, with the United Nations (UN) declaring November 27 the International Day for the Elimination of Child, Early and Forced Marriage.
The date carries special significance for India as it marks the day the Government of India launched the 'Bal Vivah Mukt Bharat' campaign in 2024.
Bhuwan Ribhu, founder of Just Rights for Children (JRC), initiated the international call for a dedicated global day to end child marriage.
