India, April 23 -- West Bengal witnessed an exceptionally high voter turnout of 91.4 per cent as polling for the first phase of the Assembly elections concluded on Thursday.
The figure marks one of the highest participation rates in the state's recent electoral history, reflecting strong voter engagement across constituencies.
Dakshin Dinajpur tops, Kalimpong sees lowest turnout
Among the districts, Dakshin Dinajpur recorded the highest turnout, with around 96 per cent of eligible voters casting their ballots as of 7 pm.
In contrast, Kalimpong registered the lowest turnout in this phase, though officials did not indicate any major disruptions affecting polling.
