India, May 10 -- Vijay will take oath on Sunday as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, marking a watershed moment in the state's political history after days of uncertainty over the numbers needed to form a stable government.

With this, Vijay becomes the first leader outside the traditional Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) and All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) formations to head the Tamil Nadu government since 1967.

Coalition backing after last-minute talks

The new government is a coalition backed by Indian National Congress, Communist Party of India, Communist Party of India (Marxist), Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi and Indian Union Muslim League.
