Chennai/IBNS, Sept. 17 -- Vijay Sethupathi-starrer Tamil crime thriller Maharaja, which received widespread acclaim, is set to be remade in Hollywood.

The development was confirmed by one of the film's producers, Sudhan Sundaram, in an interview with The Times of India.

Maharaja has also become the first Tamil film to be made in Hollywood by a major studio, the production house Passion Studios said.

Written and directed by Nithilan Saminathan, Maharaja was released theatrically in June 2024 and marked Vijay Sethupathi's 50th film as a lead actor.
