India, May 8 -- Actor-turned-politician Vijay's Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) is likely to cross the majority mark with support from the Congress, VCK, CPI and CPI(M), according to media reports, paving the way for the party to form its first government in the state.

If the numbers hold, the development would end the uncertainty surrounding government formation in the southern state, long dominated by the AIADMK and DMK.

According to reports, Vijay is expected to stake claim to form the government - a first for his party in the state.In the 234-member Assembly, TVK required 118 seats to secure a majority.
