India, May 18 -- Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay on Monday ordered a major overhaul of Amma Canteens across the state, directing officials to modernise infrastructure, improve amenities, and ensure better quality food at the subsidised eateries, media reports said.

The move follows complaints over the taste and quality of food being served at several Amma Canteens.

According to an official release, the Chief Minister called for better kitchen facilities, procurement of additional cooking equipment, and upgraded infrastructure to ensure the public receives "quality and delicious food".
