Kolkata/IBNS, Sept. 28 -- Veteran journalist Tarun Ganguly, known for his reporting on Bengali politics, passed away on Sunday, the Kolkata Press Club said.

Ganguly died at 89 last evening at his Kolkata residence.

He is survived by his daughter, son in law and granddaughter.

He authored several books, mostly on the politics of the Left and ultra-Left.

He was one of the leading journalists of his time in Kolkata and mentored many young scribes.
