Vande Mataram row erupts in INDIA bloc: Congress objects, ally NC hits back, BJP pounces
Srinagar/IBNS, Sept. 9 -- The Congress and its ally National Conference (NC) have openly disagreed over the debate surrounding the full version of Vande Mataram after all six stanzas of the national song were played at an event in Srinagar, media reports said.
The disagreement has exposed differences within the INDIA bloc, with the Congress objecting to the full version while the NC rejected the argument, saying the Congress cannot dictate terms to its alliance partners.
Congress MP KC Venugopal argued that the complete six-stanza version of Vande Mataram conflicts with India's syncretic ethos.
