Bengaluru/IBNS, April 22 -- A woman from the United States has alleged she was sexually assaulted at a homestay in Karnataka's Kodagu district, according to media reports.

What happened?

The accused has been identified as Vrujesh Kumar.

Action taken

Acting on the complaint, police have arrested the homestay owner and a worker.

Both have been remanded to judicial custody till May 3.

How did the incident come to light?

After regaining access, the woman left the homestay on the pretext of travelling to Mysuru.

She later contacted the United States Embassy, which alerted the Mysuru police, following which a formal complaint was registered.
