India, March 29 -- A woman in the northern Indian state of Uttar Pradesh was left stunned after discovering that nearly Rs. 10 crore (over USD 100 million) had been mistakenly credited to her bank account.
Sita, who holds an account with the Bank of India, chose not to withdraw any of the money and waited for the issue to be resolved.
According to her family, the unusually large amount of Rs. 9,99,49,586 appeared unexpectedly, leaving them shocked, India Today reported.
Her son, Arun Kumar, said he first noticed the discrepancy when he visited an ATM to generate a PIN and check the account balance.
"I checked the balance and it was very high, around Rs.9 crore. We don't know whose money it is," he told the news channel.
