India, July 16 -- A 40-year-old Hindu temple in the UK city of Peterborough is battling to save its home after the local council sold the complex housing the shrine to an Islamic organisation that plans to build a mosque and community centre on the site.

The Bharat Hindu Samaj (BHS) temple, established in 1986 by Indian families expelled from Uganda during Idi Amin's regime, has challenged the sale in the UK High Court, arguing that Peterborough City Council's decision was unlawful.
