TV legend James Burrows dies at 85 - Creator behind Friends, Cheers and Frasier
India, June 20 -- Acclaimed American television director and producer James Burrows, best known for shaping some of the most iconic sitcoms in television history, including FRIENDS, has died at the age of 85.
Burrows' family confirmed his death to PEOPLE on Friday, June 19.
"We celebrate the extraordinary life and enduring legacy of James 'Jimmy' Burrows, who passed away peacefully today surrounded by his loving family," the family said in a statement.
