India, June 14 -- US President Donald Trump has said that a long-awaited deal aimed at ending the war in the Middle East is expected to be signed on Sunday, adding that the Strait of Hormuz would be reopened "immediately" after the agreement is finalised.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump wrote, "The Deal is scheduled to get signed tomorrow, and immediately after it is signed, the Hormuz Strait is open to all."

Comparing the proposed agreement with the 2015 Iran nuclear deal brokered under former President Barack Obama, Trump said his administration's approach was the "exact opposite."
