India, April 19 -- Tom Cruise is set to return to the big screen, soaring through the skies once again in high-speed fighter jets, as the makers have officially confirmed a third instalment in the Top Gun series.

Although a sequel had reportedly been in development since 2024, Paramount Pictures formally announced Top Gun 3 during its annual CinemaCon presentation.

According to reports, Cruise will reprise his iconic role, though no other cast members have been confirmed so far.

The film will reportedly be produced by Jerry Bruckheimer, who had earlier hinted at the project's progress.
