India, Sept. 17 -- The Election Commission of India (ECI) on Thursday issued an interim order freezing the use of the All India Trinamool Congress name and its reserved "Flowers & Grass" election symbol for the upcoming West Bengal Assembly bypolls, amid a dispute between rival factions claiming control of the party.

The order means the two factions will have to contest the October 6 bypolls in Nandigram and Rejinagar under separate names and with different election symbols.

The ECI will then decide which name and symbol can be allotted to each faction for the bypolls.
