India, May 30 -- Trinamool Congress MP Abhishek Banerjee was allegedly heckled by a group of locals during a visit to Sonarpur in West Bengal's South 24 Parganas district on Saturday.

According to reports, Banerjee had visited the area to meet families affected by alleged post-poll violence.

During the visit, some individuals reportedly raised slogans against the Diamond Harbour MP and threw stones, shoes, and eggs in his direction.

Videos purportedly showing the incident have since gone viral on social media.

Reacting to the development, BJP leader Rakesh Singh wrote on X: "Power should never be mistaken for permanence."
