Tensions rise in Bangladesh after Hindu youth detained over Facebook post; home, temples vandalised
Dhaka/IBNS, June 25 -- A Hindu youth was taken into police custody in Bangladesh's Sunamganj district after allegations surfaced that he had posted comments deemed offensive to Islam and Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) on Facebook, triggering protests and unrest in the area.
The incident occurred in Tahirpur Upazila's Badaghat Union, where local residents staged demonstrations demanding action against the 25-year-old man.
Police later detained him as tensions escalated.
According to local sources, the controversy began on Monday morning when the youth allegedly shared a post from his personal Facebook account that was perceived by some members of the local Muslim community as insulting religious sentiments.
