India, Sept. 5 -- The Nepali Army on Saturday said a Chinese national was rescued alive from a tunnel at the Upper Trishuli-1 hydropower project, 10 days after a devastating flood struck the Himalayan nation.

The rescued man was identified as Luhaitao.

According to local media reports, Luhaitao was found around 225 metres inside the tunnel by a joint rescue team comprising Nepali Army personnel and foreign rescuers.

The team brought him out of the tunnel alive, Nepali Army spokesperson Rajaram Basnet told The Kathmandu Post.

The rescue operation was underway at the Upper Trishuli-1 project, where several other people are believed to remain trapped beneath the debris.
