Chennai/IBNS, May 14 -- In a setback for Karuppu, the 9 am show on the film's opening day was cancelled, media reports said.

The cancellation was announced by producer S. R. Prabhu on X.

Vijay government had granted permission

Earlier this week, newly sworn-in Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay had reportedly granted special permission for the 9 am screening of the film.

The movie has also been allowed five shows per day during the first two days of its release starting May 14.
