New Delhi/IBNS, May 1 -- In a relief for Pawan Khera, the Supreme Court of India on Friday granted anticipatory bail to the Congress leader in a case over his allegations against Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma's wife Riniki Bhuyan Sarma, media reports said.

He has also been barred from leaving the country without prior court permission.

Khera on Thursday told the apex court that it was "not necessary to humiliate me with arrest," arguing that rejection of his anticipatory bail plea would defeat the very purpose of pre-arrest protection.
