Students aren't criminals: Rahul slams police crackdown on CJP protest, backs NEET demonstrators
New Delhi, July 20 -- Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi on Monday strongly criticised the Centre over the police action against students protesting in Delhi over alleged irregularities in major examinations, saying those on the streets were "demanding their rights" and should not have been met with tear gas and lathis.
The remarks came after the Delhi Police fired tear gas shells and baton-charged protesters attempting to march towards Parliament, demanding the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over alleged question paper leaks and technical glitches in examinations, including NEET-UG.
