Sheikh Hasina's daughter Saima Wazed quits WHO post amid fraud allegations
India, Sept. 11 -- Former Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's daughter Saima Wazed has resigned as the World Health Organization (WHO) Regional Director for South-East Asia amid investigations by the UN agency and Bangladeshi authorities, media reports said.
Wazed has faced allegations of financial fraud and forgery, which she has denied.
According to The Hindu, Wazed resigned after member states recommended the termination of her appointment, bringing an early end to her five-year tenure.
The WHO Regional Committee recommended terminating Wazed's appointment on September 8, with the recommendation due to be considered by the WHO Executive Board.
