India, Aug. 1 -- US Special Envoy for South and Central Asia Sergio Gor has proposed that Bangladesh join the US-led Pax Silica initiative, according to media reports.

Speaking during a courtesy meeting with Prime Minister Tarique Rahman at the Prime Minister's Office in Tejgaon on Saturday morning, Gor discussed expanding economic cooperation between the two countries.

During the meeting, Prime Minister Rahman underscored Bangladesh's strong interest in attracting greater investment in the information technology sector, the Dhaka Tribune reported.

In a separate post on X, Gor said the two leaders discussed opportunities to deepen economic ties between the United States and Bangladesh.
