Scammers using AI voices? Google's new feature could stop them instantly
India, June 3 -- Scam calls powered by artificial intelligence are becoming increasingly common, with fraudsters impersonating victims' close family members to extract money and sensitive information. Using AI-driven voice cloning, scammers are now able to convincingly replicate trusted contacts, making such fraud harder to detect.
To address this growing threat, Google has announced a new Android safety feature called "fake call detection," aimed at identifying and flagging suspected spoofed calls in real time for users of the Phone by Google app.
In a blog post, the company said the feature builds on its earlier rollout of verified financial calls, which alerts users when a caller may be impersonating a financial institution.
