India, Sept. 1 -- Parts of the Anandabazar Patrika office in central Kolkata were painted saffron on Tuesday as protesters targeted the newspaper over its use of the phrase "saffron hooliganism" in a report on Jadavpur University violence, media reports said.

The protesters gathered outside the office near Chandni Chowk, where two men painted pillars at the main entrance as police stood nearby.

Some protesters even raised slogans including "Bhagwa ka apmaan nahi sahega" and "Anandabazar Patrika haye haye".

The demonstration reportedly lasted for nearly an hour.
