Kolkata/IBNS, June 22 -- The internal crisis within the Trinamool Congress (TMC) intensified on Monday after a faction led by rebel MLA Ritabrata Banerjee announced the formation of a new organisational committee, excluding the party's key founder Mamata Banerjee, and suspended Abhishek Banerjee, according to sources familiar with the developments.

The move marks the latest escalation in the ongoing power struggle within the party and comes days after the Mamata Banerjee-led Trinamool Congress expelled Ritabrata Banerjee over alleged anti-party activities.

Sources present at the meeting said an 11-member committee was constituted during a closed-door gathering at a hotel in New Town.
