Kolkata/IBNS, June 13 -- In dramatic scenes that unfolded overnight, police reached the Kalighat residence of Trinamool Congress national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee, allegedly broke open a lock to gain entry, and searched the premises while tracking his personal assistant, Sumit Roy, in connection with a probe into alleged financial irregularities.

Police trace aide's location to Abhishek's residence

Police reached Banerjee's residence in Kalighat's Patuapara area after tracking Roy's tower location, which allegedly indicated his presence at the TMC leader's house.

Mamata, who lives in a nearby lane, left the house at around 8 am on Friday morning.

She declined to comment and avoided speaking to the media.
