India, Aug. 11 -- The pilot-in-command of an Air India flight that suddenly lost 300 feet in altitude over the course of a few seconds failed a second dope test, several media outlets, quoting sources, reported on Tuesday, deepening questions over the circumstances surrounding the incident.

The Air India flight AI-2379, carrying 137 passengers and eight crew members, was flying from Phuket to Delhi on August 4 when it encountered severe turbulence and abruptly lost altitude during its cruise phase. At least 20 passengers and four crew members were injured.

Two crew members suffered spinal injuries, including injuries near the tailbone and neck, Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu said.
