Netaji statue vandalised in Kolkata hours after CM Suvendu Adhikari's warning over disrespect
India, Aug. 13 -- A statue of freedom fighter Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose was found with its right hand broken in Kolkata's New Alipore area on Thursday, less than 24 hours after West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari warned of strict action against those making derogatory remarks about the national icon.
The damage to the statue, located near a three-way crossing, sparked anger among local residents and political workers and prompted the Kolkata Police to launch an investigation.

A senior police officer said authorities were trying to determine when and how the statue was damaged.
