India, Sept. 27 -- At least 10 people have gone missing after an avalanche swept through the Himlung Himal Base Camp in Nepal's Manang district on Sunday, media reports said.

The missing include eight support staff from Himalayan Holidays Nepal and two staff members from Imagine Nepal Treks, who reportedly lost contact after the avalanche buried tents at the base camp, the Expedition Operators Association Nepal (EOAN) said, according to The Himalayan Times.

Most climbers and support personnel from other expedition operators had already moved to lower elevations after weather agencies issued warnings of heavy rain, snowfall and an increased risk of avalanches across Nepal's mountainous regions, reports said.
