NCPCR summons Meta India chiefs over alleged Instagram ads promoting child abuse material
India, Sept. 8 -- The National Commission for the Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) has summoned Meta India's Managing Director and Head to appear before the Commission on September 9 over allegations that paid advertisements on Instagram were being used to promote child sexual exploitation and abuse material (CSEAM).
The child rights body initiated proceedings after taking suo motu cognisance of a media report by BBC Eye, which alleged that Instagram advertisements were directing users to Telegram channels where child sexual abuse material was being offered for sale.
