India, Sept. 24 -- Actor-comedian Mushtaq Khan, best known for his memorable supporting roles in films including Welcome, Hera Pheri and Stree, has died at the age of 56 after a prolonged battle with cancer.

The actor was undergoing treatment at Mumbai's Nanavati Hospital.

His funeral is scheduled to take place on Friday.

Veteran actor Anupam Kher mourned his death in an emotional post.
