India, Aug. 12 -- A landslide at a chawl in Mumbai's Kurla area early Wednesday left at least two people dead, while five others are feared trapped under the debris, media reports said.

Multiple agencies are currently engaged in rescue and evacuation operations at the site.

According to information shared by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation's (BMC) Mumbai Fire Brigade, the incident occurred at around 3:48 am on Wednesday, reported NDTV.

BMC Mayor Ritu Tawde and Additional Municipal Commissioner (Eastern Suburbs) Avinash Dhakne visited the site to assess the situation and oversee the ongoing rescue efforts.
