India, May 15 -- India and the United Arab Emirates on Friday signed a series of agreements covering strategic defence cooperation, petroleum reserves and the supply of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) during Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to the Gulf nation, amid heightened tensions in the Middle East.

Sharing details of the visit, Randhir Jaiswal, spokesperson for the Ministry of External Affairs, wrote on X that the visit witnessed the exchange of "important agreements in areas of energy, defence, infrastructure including shipping, and advanced technology," further strengthening the India-UAE Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
