India, Feb. 23 -- The Indian Embassy in Mexico has issued a safety advisory urging its citizens to seek shelter amid ongoing violence following the death of notorious drug lord Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes, also known as "El Mencho."

In a statement on X, the embassy said: "There are ongoing security operations and related road blockages and criminal activity. Indian nationals in Jalisco State (Puerto Vallarta, Chapala, and Guadalajara), Tamaulipas State (Reynosa and other municipalities), Michoacan State, Guerrero State, and Nuevo Leon State should shelter in place until further notice."

Avoid areas near law enforcement activity.

Stay aware of your surroundings.

Seek shelter and minimize unnecessary movements.
