Mumbai/IBNS, April 15 -- The Indian stock market surged on Wednesday, buoyed by investor optimism over potential US-Iran peace talks, according to media reports.

The NSE Nifty 50 opened above 24,160 and climbed nearly 400 points.

IT, financial services, metals, and PSU bank stocks led the rally, reflecting strong bullish sentiment, while pharma and healthcare stocks lagged behind.

US President Donald Trump on Tuesday spoke with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, discussing the situation in West Asia.

Along with bilateral ties, both leaders emphasised the importance of keeping the Strait of Hormuz open and secure.
