India, Oct. 3 -- British police have arrested and charged two Iranian nationals with terrorism offences over a suspected plot to attack the Jewish community in Manchester on the eve of Yom Kippur.

London's Metropolitan Police identified the two suspects as Salam Ahmadyan, 36, and Rahman Salehi, 34. They were arrested in Manchester on September 20.

"Following authorisation from the Crown Prosecution Service, they were both charged on Friday, 2 October, with engaging in conduct in preparation for terrorist acts, contrary to Section 5 of the Terrorism Act 2006," the Metropolitan Police said in a statement.
