India, April 7 -- West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Monday intensified her attack on the Centre, claiming that convoys of Central forces were being moved into the state as part of a "trick" ahead of the Assembly elections.
Addressing a rally in Nadia, Banerjee alleged that "200 cars carrying CRPF from Uttar Pradesh via Ayodhya" were on their way to Bengal "to attack you," but urged people not to be afraid."
"This is a 15-day trick. a 25-day game. Ultimately, the power lies with the voters," she said.
EC defends deployment
Responding to the concerns, the Election Commission of India said the deployment of Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) is aimed at ensuring "fear-free, peaceful, and fair elections."
