L&T hands over INS Samarthak to Navy: India's maritime power gets a major boost
Mumbai/IBNS, Sept. 2 -- L&T Precision Engineering & Systems (PES) has marked a significant milestone in India's defence capability enhancement with the delivery of INS Samarthak, the first-of-class multi-purpose vessel (MPV) built for the Indian Navy.
The delivery of the MPV, from L&T's Kattupalli Shipyard near Chennai, was attended by senior officials of the Indian Navy and L&T.
The MPV is a highly specialised multi-role test and trials platform, to enhance future combat capabilities of the Indian Navy.
Named 'Samarthak', which means 'supporter', the ship is synonymous with the multi-dimensional role envisaged for the platform.
