Kolkata Metro expansion: KMC clears long-stalled Baranagar-Barrackpore corridor after 15 years
India, Aug. 25 -- The Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) has issued a No Objection Certificate (NOC) for the long-delayed Baranagar-Barrackpore Metro Corridor, paving the way for work on the 12-km Pink Line along B.T. Road after nearly 15 years of uncertainty.
The project had remained stalled for years due to a deadlock over the shifting of underground water pipelines along the busy B.T. Road corridor.
Suvendu Adhikari welcomed the development in a post on X, saying the NOC from the KMC marks a significant step towards expanding rapid mass transit across Kolkata's northern suburbs.
