Kerala rain fury: 2 dead, 10 feared trapped as massive Wayanad landslide triggers rescue race
India, July 7 -- At least two people were killed after heavy rainfall triggered a major landslide in Kerala's Wayanad district on Tuesday, according to media reports.
Rescue operation underway
A large-scale rescue operation was launched immediately after the incident.
Authorities fear that around 10 people may still be trapped under the debris. Several construction workers were reportedly present at the site when the landslide struck.
Six injured people were rescued and rushed to nearby hospitals for treatment.
Kerala CM orders immediate action
Following the incident, Kerala Chief Minister V.D. Satheesan directed Agriculture Minister T. Siddique to coordinate the rescue operations.
