India, April 3 -- Iranian media outlets have reported that a United States pilot may have been taken into custody by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) after ejecting from a fighter aircraft over western Iran.

The claim emerged after reports that the aircraft, identified as an F-35, was struck during an operation by the IRGC Aerospace Force.

According to the Iranian news agency Tasnim, the pilot ejected from the aircraft before landing in territory under Iranian control.

Government-linked sources also indicated that the individual is now in custody. The claims have not been independently verified.
