India, May 29 -- An aspiring mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter from the southern Indian state of Kerala was killed in a rare bear attack in northern Saskatchewan, Canada, on May 8, according to reports.

The victim, Hrishikesh Koloth, was reportedly working at a uranium exploration site when the attack occurred.

For more than a decade, he had trained in MMA, first in India and later in Canada after moving there three years ago to pursue his dream of becoming a professional fighter.

According to reports, he was working as a contract technician at the Zoo Bay property operated by Vancouver-based UraniumX Discovery Corp.

Speaking about his brother, Arjun told CNBC, "That was his dream. That's why he came here."
